Found this entry in my BOS which was written on the 14th November 2008.

Causal Body (Air)- beliefs, reason and memory. This give rise to:

Mental Body(Fire)- the body of knowledge stored within. Which is responsible for:

Emotional Body(Water)- a living history of all the things you like and dislike; all of your fears, hopes and desires. These three create:

Physical body(Earth)- the final manifestation of the previous three.

To change the Physical reality, begin at the source. Look for holes in the belief system you hold.

It is almost a year later, and I feel no closer to who I want to be than I was last year. I go through serious periods of indecision flipping back and forth between security and passion......can I make the passion give me security....my biggest, most challenging hurdle is a bloody career decision!
It should be simple to shift............

Elemental Magick- Fire Magick-Candle Magick

The Element of FIRE is the part of the psyche that consists of all that is energetic, vitalizing and invigorating. Fire energies are transformative. Think of the action of fire, it destroys and cleans for new growth. It also is passion, spontaneity and dynamism. FIRE is said to be Purifying, destroying, energetic, sexual, and forceful. Its essence is Hot and Dry, and its qualities are also projective.
One of the most effective forms of FIRE Magick is Candle Magick. Candle Magick works by the principles of colour associations, and one of the olde Magick Laws of “Like Attracts Like”. You choose a candle, the colour associated to your spell / prayer’s goal. You “charge” this candle with the energy of your intent with an oil and by rubbing it in a particular way, and marking the candle with runes, symbols etc. By rubbing the candle, the vibrations that are coming off of you, for your intent, are vibrating the candle’s molecules in the same way. Burning the candle causes these particles to be released into the air, seeking out other “like” particles and drawing them to you….the source.

The colour association is what the colour means to you. Colour associations are affected by cultural factors, the example of one being the use of white in the West for weddings but white being a colour of mourning in some Eastern countries.
The method for candle magick is as follows:
Choose the candle colour according to your goal. (See Colour Associations) If in doubt you can use a white candle as the universal colour. Next, choose an oil to consecrate the candle with. It can be an oil associated with the goal (would be best) although if these are not readily available, I use a base oil like olive oil or almond oil (check your local drug store). You would also need to know what runes and symbols are associated with your goals. I also like to burn some incense to help me focus while doing candle magick. Also, prepare two chants, one to dedicate the oil and candle to the deity of your choosing, and the other to state the intent of the burning.
Sit quietly with your candle, oil and matches. Make sure you will not be disturbed. Cleanse your space, clear your inner space (your mind) Lift the oil up cupping it in your hands and say a chant like:
This oil now charged with (Goddess/God’s) power
To Bless this spell I do this hour
Thank thee (Goddess/God) for lending me your power
To Bless this spell I do this hour.

Put the oil aside and take the candle. Mark the candle with the runes and symbols of your choice. You can also repeat the chant above, replacing the word “oil” with “candle.”
Next, quiet yourself again, and make sure that your mind is focused on your goal. Picture yourself living in your goal. You already have it, see yourself having it. Harness the emotions of having it. You must feel the gratitude, the elation as you visualize yourself with having your goal. When you have reached that emotional state, dip your fingers in the oil, hold the candle in your power hand, and rub the candle from bottom to the center, then from top to the center. It is a good Idea to mark your runes in the center to have a point of reference when oiling the candle.
While rubbing your candle chant your “Intent Chant.” This would be the chant you have made up to go with your spell. An example would be the following chant to find the answer to a problem:
I know the answer
The answer is near
My mind now opens
The answer I hear.
And it harm none, so mote it be.
Make sure you are still visualizing your goal. See the molecules in the candle being charged with the final outcome of your having your goal. See yourself having it. Put the candle down, light it. Keep visualizing your goal. Meditate on having it, and harnessing the emotions from having it for as long as possible. Look at the candle flame if you need a point of focus. The longer you can focus on the image, the better. However, you must know how long you can meditate for and stop before your mind loses the image.
When you find yourself being unable to hold the image, thank the Deity, and place the candle where it can burn right through. Leave it to do its work. Clean up your other items.

When working spells your mind MUST be tuned to the result of your goal. The Power within you is driven by your emotions of having it already. Meditation assists in keeping your mind on any focus for extended periods of time. If you find you cannot focus for longer than five minutes, then stop after the five minutes. Never allow your mind to wander off of the intent/goal for your spells. Five minutes of sharp focus is more powerful than one hour of mind wandering on and off the goal.

Also, I must bring up a caution for people who want to use magick on others. Remember that “Like attracts Like. “If you choose to attempt to control people, you may find yourself being controlled by people. We are all granted with Free Will, and this force within us is what guides us and drives us along the path. There are lessons we need to learn in this incarnation to push us into our next level of Spiritual Evolution. When we interfere with others, we not only prevent them from going along their normal path, we also prevent them from learning any lessons which assist them in growing spiritually. We cannot decide what is best for them. We…from our level down here…cannot have a sense of the bigger picture.
Work spells always with yourself as a point of focus. You can always change yourself, that is your Power.

There are many forms of Candle Magick, and many creative ways to use candles. These two books are only two of what is available.

Elemental Magick- part one

Lets attempt to understand Elemental Magick first, and the reason for its development. Elemental Magick proposes that firstly there are four main elements in existence, and sometimes a fifth; Spirit; is named. Where did this come from?
In his article on Elemental Magick, Michael Lewis states that “The earliest of Greek natural philosophers, Thales, in considering which was the most basic element in the cosmos, from which the cosmos was made, supposed that the cosmos was made of Water. Later, Heraclitus decided that the most basic element in the cosmos was Fire, and Anaxagoras named Air as the essential constituent of the cosmos. In the 6th Century BC, Empedocles first suggested that the cosmos was made of four constituent elements, which he named as Fire, Air, Water and Earth, in order from the most rare to the most dense. “
These four elements are air, fire, water and earth. Keep in mind the Magick Law “As Above, so below.” These elements exist in the astral in different forms, and when manifest into the more and more physical planes, become the physical qualities that we can feel with our senses.
Why use them. Understand the Law of Attraction. If what we want to achieve in a spell, has a particular vibrational quality, then surrounding our thoughts with the same qualities will attract the thing we wish to have. (I refer to “thing” but this can also mean experience, feeling, goals etc i.e., the result of your spell and ritual work) Each of the elements, Air, Fire, Water and Earth has a vibrational quality. Spirit is a combination of all. Each element has various things associated with it, which vibrates at the same quality as the element, and creates a similar response in us; through our senses, when we interact with it.

Understanding the elements and their energies is important to know where to use them. You will need to sit and meditate on each quality, feel them, know them, turn them over in your mind’s eye. The physically play with them, feel the wind, observe a candle, play with water, dig in the earth…let all your senses be open to their physical properties. Smell them, taste them, touch them, listen to their sounds…then close your eyes and feel with your inner senses.
The element of AIR is the vibrational quality which is found in activities which are intellectual, communicative and expressive. It is found in new beginnings, the initial thoughts and compilation of an idea, the changing from one thing to another. It is also found in mind, all mental, intuitive and psychic work, knowledge, abstract learning, theory, rebirth, imagination, belief, wind, breath, poetry, and sound. Air’s essence is described as Hot and Moist; and has projective qualities (male polarity). For any activities or goals under any of these headings above, AIR magick is best worked. The details of AIR magick and its associations, and spells will be discussed in a subsequent blog.
Further Fire Magick would be discussed in a later blog.
Then we come to WATER. Water is cold and moist and has receptive qualities (feminine polarity). Water’s energy can be found in activities that are creative, receptive, fluidic, mysterious, hidden and of the subconscious nature. It is Flowing, cleansing, healing, soothing, and loving. Psychic abilities, emotions, nurturing activities all have water vibrational qualities.
Then we come to EARTH. Earth is the quality of everything which is manifest in the physical. It is grounding, stable, slow moving. It exists in activities of developing, productivity, growth. The body, growth, nature, sustenance, material gain, money, fertility, birth, death, gravity, silence, rocks, standing stones, crystals, jewels, metals, wealth, abundance, wisdom. Earth’s qualities are receptive, passive and of feminine polarity. Earth Magick would be used in rituals and spells which aim for any goal falling under these qualities.

In using Elemental Magick, the goal or aim of your spell must first be categorized under one of the above mentioned elements. Sometimes, your aim may have combinations of the elements in them. I would suggest that if you are a beginner, you simplify it to one element, before moving on to two or more in your magick. How? If you are doing a spell for inspiration, you could use either FIRE or AIR. I like to use AIR, because in my mind I associate thought (inspirational ideas) with AIR. I understand the passion (FIRE) which is found in receiving inspiration, but I believe the initial point comes from AIR. You may feel differently, and resonate with the passionate part of inspiration; in which case use FIRE magick by all means.

I think also, you should begin your own associations chart. You can list the qualities, draw their symbols, but before you write any of the association which you find (coming up in other blogs) you should meditate on each and ensure that they resonate with you. For example, incense is associated with AIR, but cinnamon incense has always brought to mind “Fire” qualities, and I use it in Fire magick occasionally. Always only use what you associate the item with. Always note your special associations. Your intuition takes precedence over anything that you have learnt. Note it, meditate on it and if your mind is convinced it is…then it is. You are creating a magickal process for you…not for anyone else.
In blog posts to follow, I will pull apart all the elements, giving associations for each of the five senses, and spells, rituals or simple activities that can be done to gather their energies around you. I have also listed other sites below for study.

Spiritual Explorations of a Different Kind part 2

Avatar-the Last Airbender

A few years back some college boys from the USA "created" a character called The Avatar, who was a little boy, a least in this life. He was a reincarnated spirit of a long line of AVATARS whose spirit returned to Earth every one thousand years to assist the Human Race through a difficult trial period. Pointing out the similarity between that and Hindu philosophy which has a "god" descend to Earth every thousand years is another blog all together.

Any who, my point was just to observe this cartoon series in its brilliant exploration of this little boy of simple origin, with the knowledge and power to become great, but needed to experience the human condition as the "key" to unlock these special abilities. His Spirit has been here several times before, but his body, and his talents shift depending on the task he needs to perform in this incarnation.

Avatar the Movie

Then there was this Movie, Avatar. In this movie, (besides the other themes which are screaming at me to discuss but will be at a later blog) the conciousness of the individual is transfered to another body which is more suitable to do the job which is required. Thats all I would say about this movie which is relevant to this blog's theme. (So tempting.....)

Surrogates

This third one, Surrogates explores the type of world where we are able to choose our bodies. The physical appearance of the individual is dictated by their desires.n How ever, in losing themselves in these surrogates, the individual loses touch with what it means to be Human.

These are just three movies which address this theme of the Avatar.....the idea that the physical body in temporary, interchangeable, and that the individual actually resides in its own conciousness and not in the physical body.

The message is simple. We are not our bodies. Our bodies are simply the vessel in which we travel this life. Our true selves lie in our conciousness which remains regardless of which body and which lifetime we are currently engaging in. What is new in the Movie Avatar and Surrogates is that we can actually choose to change the body in our current incarnation, and experience different realities in one lifetime.

This idea is found throughout many writings in theosophy, magick and occult studies. That our physical body is actually created by our conciousness is one theme which can be founf in tibetian writings, christian theology, Magickal philosophy etc.
That we are spiritual beings which incarnated several times to grow spiritually is another. That we evolve at every incarnation, and what we are given in each incarnation are the tools we need to learn the lessons we need at that incarnation.

That we are spiritual beings, learning lessons in each life; collecting these lessons in our inner conciousness, and that we know more at each incarnation than we are aware of.

This is how the majority of the Human race is able to explore spiritual themes these days, through books, film and media. Those individuals who can, tap into the evolutionary stages of spirit, and present the ideas to the mainstream for their exploration. Those who see past the entertainment factor are elevated in spirit.
Now imagine if we could go through eternity retaining some of the memories or skills from previous lives? Or, perhaps we can, before we die, decide who we want to be in our next life? Suppose we do have this power, and never used it simply because it never dawned on us?

And this is my brain going off on a tangent again...........

Passion

Coming out from my last post it got me thinking whay so many of my "ideas" remain just ideas and are never manifest. Especially when it comes to career. Thats because I know I lack the passion for it. When it comes to the Fire stage, I fizzle. Creating the idea for me is what I am passionate about, but most of them lack the kind of touchstone which would stoke the fire in me.

Even in my current job I feel the claws of boredom setting in, and not one project has given me excitiment as yet that I feel the urge to wake in the morning and get to work. I know I have to do something soon, because very soon the boredom will be like a crippling vise grip on my mind, and that cycle would begin again.

What am I passionate about? Art, magick, anything which forces me to create by hand. I wish I could learn woodworking, I wish I could learn a skill like plastic molding etc which can take a design from the paper onto a practical usable aspect. Even learning welding to learn to make my own things........

I need to sit with myself and have a stern talk. I am a creative soul, and I am happiest when I am formulating a painting, an image, a design for something I would love to have, or even writing a story, essay or blog. My mind feels like I am in touch with the Higher Creative and I feel enlivened by some power which courses through me. Can't explain the feeling further, but it is where I feel elated.

Having to do the job I do during the day, pulls me out of that zone. There is no connection to something greater when I do it, rather a feeling of floundering in a muddy pool.

This current contract must be the last of its kind that I take. I have three years to build an alternate career out of what I love. I must sit down and think this through.

The Pentacle and Magick- Pt 2 – Thought Process in the Magickal Mind

I have already explained the Pentacle and the symbols of the circle, the pentagram and the meaning of each of the five points. Lets take a look at how each of these points relate to the process of a Magickal working.

In order to manifest anything at all Magickally, the spell worker must carry the intention through a particular process. Focusing on each part of the process in extremely important, and the end result of each process is also important, as any deviation from that focus will result in scattered energies. Please keep in mind that the meanings behind the symbols Spirit, Air, Fire, Water and Earth mentioned in this essay are not that only symbols that pertain to these elements and are taken in the context of the topic being discussed- which is the process of thinking the Magick.

First of all, what is the Spirit behind your spell working? Is it for improvement of yourself? Is it strictly for pleasure? Either way is okay as long as it interfears with no one else's Will, and harms no one. Remember, even though the intention is good, lets say to work a healing spell; you need to get permission from the one who you are working the spell for. Even positive spell working, without permission is seen as interfering with the Will of another, and this is not allowed in Magick. Remember always the Law of Three, and any attempts to decide what anyone else should want for themselves, will result in the same exercise in control being exhibited on you, three times over. Whatever your goal, please always attempt to construct the ritual in a way that only you are affected, with the back up phrase “ And it harm none so mote it be.” Even if you are in danger, or are trying to remove a person from your life, it is safer to do a protective spell, or an invisibility spell on yourself, than work any spell on the other person. (Invisibility spells do not render you invisible, you just would find the other person not being able to meet up with you through circumstances beyond their control)

More about the Spirit of your mind in a later blog. There are many layers to this thing.

Second, we must look at AIR. Air is the process where you have identified a problem to be solved or a goal to work on, and you sit and think of ways to achieve your aims. Air is the thinking, analyzing part of the situation. What would solve the problem? Which Path can I take? What ritual can I do? Air is where you being to work out the elements of the spell. What focus should I use? Planetary Magick? Elemental Magick? Herbs? A ritual? You must know what your mind responds to. You must know if the result you wish to accomplish is believable to you. If it is not, then you can take steps to change your belief in order to have a successful outcome. By this I can give the example of an individual applying for a position that he sees as his dream job. If there is any doubt in his mind or any insecurity, that the job is not for him, no amount of spell working will create an alternative outcome. He has already decided that it is not for him.....the fate of the spell is sealed. What ever type of Magick is used must reinforce the idea of the goal being a possibility. Air is the thinking out of what we will do to accomplish the goal.

Third we come to FIRE. Fire is the passion we put into the work, because we really want to see it come to be. How many times have we been given a task for which we have no passion, and have given it our half-baked attention, or procrastinated several times. Air can sound great, ideas can be great- but if there is no passion behind it, the chances that it would go beyond the Air stage are almost nil.
Pay attention to the work done in the Air process. At some point, while you are tossing solutions back and forth in your mind (IE, the method of spell working to be used) you may have what Oprah call an “Ah HA” moment, or the elated feeling of excitement that this is the direction you should take. And you will be quite right. This is your inner child telling you that that solution would be fun. That is your subconscious telling you that it can believe that that solution would create the outcome. That is the two-fold aspect of FIRE which you have to be aware of.

For the stage which represents WATER, our emotions are the key here. At that point in Fire, where the belief is reinforced as a greater possibility, we will usually get a flood of emotions imagining ourselves at the point of manifestation, (IE imagining ourselves in the new car, or getting the job offer) The emotions which we have at that point are key. Are they positive? Are they negative? Do they begin as positive and then become tinged with doubt? In this stage, manifestation of the thing is most probable in the instance where there is no doubt of its possibility. If there is any doubt entering your mind, then you need to address that doubt, again by finding ways to change your belief about it, and begin anew with another spell.

EARTH, is the manifestation of the thing we worked for. It is the realization that, through seemingly magickal efforts, the thing we worked a spell for has come to pass in a way that is unexpected. There is much to caution the Magick worker in the interim between Water and Earth, but again that will be dealt with in another post. Understand that Magick and Nature are one, and the way the thing becomes manifested, will be in keeping with the Laws of Nature. Its not going to pop out of the sky people, but it will appear. One example I can put my head on a block for is something I have wished for, and done such a simple spell for that it almost seemed like no spell at all.
There was an incense burner which I saw on line that I loved. I wished for it. I chanted a rhyme which asked the Goddess to add that to my cache of magickal tools. I had really forgotten about the thing when it shows up via the most unusual channel of a very Catholic family member giving one to me because she had no use for it. Someone had given it to her as a gift, and she had no clue how to use it.
Remember always, on the receipt of the thing you worked the spell for, always thank the Goddess, or God or Deity that you called on for assistance. Better still, thank the gods anyway- because you could be like me and forget that you worked the spell.....only to remember it a few days after receiving the thing.

This takes us back to where? Spirit of course! Because after the thing that you have wished for and spell worked for becomes manifest; you experience a buoyancy of Spirit and on some level, your spiritual connection to the All has been increased if only for a moment. But once the experience has been had, the chances of you believing that you can work a successful spell will increase the second time around.

The Pentacle- and Magick - Part 1

The pentacle, a five pointed star within a circle, represents among other things, the five elements of Nature, surrounded by and existing in a never ending circle of creation. The circle represents the unending, ever cycling nature of the existence we live in. Nothing is ever destroyed, just becomes something else. If you did physics you may remember that energy is neither created nor destroyed, but undergoes a transformation into a different state.

The Five points from the top clockwise are Spirit, Air, Fire, Water and Earth. Spirit marks the beginning. We begin as a Spiritual being, ideas begin on the spiritual plane.

Air represents thoughts, ideas, consciousness and things to do with the mind. All that is intellectual, logical, communicative, expressive and abstract. Air has active masculine and changeable characteristics.

Fire, the third point, is passion, will, and desire. All that is dynamic, energetic, vitalizing, invigorating, spontaneous, and initiating. Fire contains trans formative energies, is unpredictable and regenerating. Fire has active masculine properties.

Our fourth point from the top represents Water. Water symbolizes all that is receptive, sustaining, fluidic, the subconscious, hidden, mysterious and generative. It represents emotions, and is passive and feminine.

The last point on the pentacle is Earth. Earth is the manifested property of our existence. This energy is grounding, slow moving, stable, materializing. All activities of fertility and growth are attributed to Earth, and well as material abundance. Earth also has passive and feminine qualities.

The pentacle, a symbol of protection represents all the properties of existence ruled by spirit. In wearing the pentacle or adopting it as a personal symbol, you make the claim that all the properties which make up YOUR existence; are ruled by YOUR spirit. You acknowledge that there is a greater ALL, which we are connected to, but your Spirit is a gift, meant to executed some purpose for the good of the ALL.....which is why you are here.

AS we travel along the outer circle of the pentacle, the points also give us guidelines for Magick, and how to move something from the astral level of spirit, bringing it out to its physical existence, guiding it through its elemental stages. More about that later in another post.

By occult teachings, anything that we can imagine already exists in spirit, and can be made to exist in reality. Some occultists go as far to say that anything you need or want, is already yours by way of attracting the energy toward you by mere thought (air), the only things keeping it from manifesting is our ability to carry it through to the other elemental stages (fire -belief that it is mine etc)
Again, more will be discussed in another post.

Blessed be guys, blessed be.

Goddess Rising

The energies of the Goddess are rising in my country. There is a group of artists who are meeting to create an altar for the Goddess, in a space where the spiritual viel is thin.
Years ago, this was used as a place of worship and of burial. There are still graves there, marked by a series of crosses, honoring those who have crossed the bridge from spirit to earth, and back again to spirit.
What does this mean for those of us who hide our beliefs? What does this mean for us who watch these brave creative people, cast all caution to the wind, and do exactly what we were meant to do?
Artists are the Air.....and we the followers are the fire....
The Goddess has been stoking the fire...ensuring that the flame was ready, and at the same time introducing the thought to those brave enough to start the Beginning of the new time.
The date....well...the moon will be in increase........
